JURISPRUDENCE AND PRINCIPLES OF ISLAMIC LAW

History

The Department of Jurisprudence and Principles of Islamic Law is one of the educational departments of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies of the Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, which was established in 1991 at the BA level and later in 2007 at the MA level and since 2017 it has managed to attract foreign students mostly from Iraq at the MA level.

Educational Focus

In the Jurisprudence department, the educational focus is on jurisprudence courses and principles of jurisprudence and jurisprudence rules, and its adaptation to legal and statutory criminal laws, so that after graduation, students will be prepared to be employed and work in legal centers or continue their studies.

Research Focus

The main research focus of the department is on civil jurisprudence, jurisprudence rules, political jurisprudence, criminal jurisprudence and medical jurisprudence. The department faculty tries to explore new subjects raised in scientific communities or subjects with legal shortcomings, analyzing and explaining them according to jurisprudence, fundamental and ethical principles.

Number of Faculty Members of the Department

The Department of Jurisprudence and Principles of Islamic Law currently has 5 active faculty members: one associate professor and four assistant professors.

Number of Students

At the moment, there are 154 students studying at the BA level and 38 students including foreign ones at the MA level, and there are so far 1230 alumni at the BA level and 95 alumni at the MA level, including foreign students

The department has an acceptable advantage in terms of its unique potential in the southern Iran and the Khuzestan province, in terms of work history, experienced and expert active and retired professors with the ability to teach and guide dissertations related to the field. In addition, the proximity to neighboring Arab countries and the potential to attract foreign students add to its advantage.
