DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY AND URBAN PLANNING

The Department of Geography and Urban Planning was founded in 1994 to offer courses on urban issues. In February of 1995, the first group of undergraduate students was admitted. The department launched its Master's program in Geography and Urban Planning in 2005, its Master's program in Geography and Rural Planning in 2013, and its Ph.D. program in Geography and Urban Planning in 2014. The department has ever since focused on teaching courses in urban planning, urban management, the environment, urban physical development, urban economy, urban tourism, and all other urban issues and problems including marginalization, urban decay texture, and urban furniture. The research interests of the members include urban planning, tourism, urban management, marginalization, urban decay texture, urban hazards, urban resilience, and urban passive defense.

Geography and Urban Planning is offered under three B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs in the department which currently has three professors, two associate professors, five assistant professors, and two instructors.

There are 124 students majoring in B.A., 30 students majoring in M.A., and 14 students majoring in Ph.D. programs. Many students have also graduated during recent years.
