DEPARTMENT OF PERSIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

The Department of Persian Language and Literature was established in 1973. In addition to admitting B.A. students in the major of Persian Language and Literature ever since, the department has admitted M.A. and Ph.D. students in the same major since 1986 and 1991, respectively.

The educational and research focus of the department has always been on teaching Persian language and literature, the analysis of ancient and contemporary literary texts, rhetoric, Persian grammar, stylistics, literary criticism and Persian writing. A plenty of books, theses and research articles have been published by the professors and students in the department. Currently, the department has 12 faculty members including 4 associate professors and 8 assistant professors. The department has already had several full professors with one of them appointed as a distinguished national professor. Besides many who have graduated from the department in recent years, there are 129 students in the B.A. program, 28 students in the M.A. program, and 49 students in the Ph.D. program.
