Established in 1970 at Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, the Faculty of Science seeks to educate and foster future leaders of scientific endeavors and to actively participate in the development of fast-growing industries in Iran. Our focus is on excellence in teaching, learning and research to produce manpower with the skills and knowledge to make a difference in our developing society and train experts and experienced workforce for oil and petrochemical industries in Khuzestan Province. For this purpose our specialized physics and chemistry laboratories are ready to present consultation services to different companies and industries in the province. Some of our research activities are focused on the field of human genetics and genetic diseases common in our province. In this regard the faculty presents laboratory and specialized genetic services and counseling to patients referred from hospitals and physicians. The Center for Biotechnology Studies of our faculty is a unique center in the southwest of Iran which gives services to researchers in the new biological sciences in and out of the university.  We proudly state that the first laboratory of warm super conductivity in Iran was established in the Department of Physics at our faculty which gives research services to academics and postgraduate students in this field. The faculty is also the house of the first center for Nano studies in the Province.

Our faculty is a home to some of the best academics and researchers of the Province; 15 full professors, 16 associate professors, 40 assistant professors, and 4 instructors are currently engaged on teaching and supervising more than 1700 BSc, MSc, and PhD students.
